A familiar bunch of guys here.
When I painted my first Napoleonic's 25mm was 25mm and 15mm, well that was always liable to scale creep. I mean 15mm is pretty small. So maybe in this mixed up world 1815 didn't mark the end and perhaps we can imagine another 3 years of campaigning (okay another 3 years of needless suffering for the people of Europe, but hey, these are 15mm metal figures, they can take it).

Serf and Turf
These figures came when I got the other Tontenanz horsemen. They are really nice figures but not really Napoleonic so sat in a draw for some time. The other week I thought I would get them painted and added as some sort of serf artillery unit. To be honest they are very smart looking serfs. The gun is a Russian 3lb Blue Moon gun.

French Napoleonic Baggage Wagon
The figure is a converted from a Eureka guy who was totally sat down. I managed to get him into a sitting position via the wonders of Milliput and a paper clip. The wagon is Blue Moon and the horses again Eureka but from the SYW range. The horses are really big by the way.
I have a number baggage and limbers that have piled up over the years and I have been blitzing them this last month and now have quite a lot of completed sets. I just have a few to finish off and then I will post them on the blog.

French Napoleonic Forge
Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.”
I have seen the future, it’s not dolphin blue planet friendly being plastic, but 3d printing is going to be the way to go.
This forge unit I bought printed from orders@taylorclanuk.org.
The set design is from https://napoleonicstlfiles.com/en/. Kane at Orders@Taylor has a comprehensive catalogue of Napoleonics he can print under licence. He will 3d print to whichever size you want and provides a really great turnaround and well packaged delivery for people such as myself that are 3d printer lacking.
The figure detail is amazing. My only issue is that they are so realistic that once shrunk to 18mm some proportions are realistic but a bit small. Muskets, bayonets and scabbards can get a little flimsy. The plastic has got some give unlike their metal counterparts and they can also be easily glued back on. The horses from “napoleonicstlfiles” also have realistically thin legs, which again is not great for 18mm scale. But the Polish cavalry Kane also has come with a moulded base and were much sturdier.
The variety of pose and variety of figure is really incredible. Details are so well defined painting is pretty easy, no guessing needed for buttons, belts or buckles.

Russian His Majesty’s and Her Majesty’s Currasiers
Here are the Russian His and Hers currasiers. All the figures are Essex Miniatures. I painted the “His” over 20 years ago. But they were a funny mismatch paint scheme originally. Now they are both painted as His & Hers Majesty’s with the latter completed a few weeks ago.

French Guard Artillery
Finished my two batteries of AB French Guard Artillery. The guns are Blue Moon French 12 pounders. I also finished some odds and ends and made an Essex Guard battery. This will do as a 6lb battery. At a distance the three units look okay together. The Essex guns are a bit chubby looking but the figures are in great coats so they look fine.

Russian Napoleonic Artillery
Seem to be on a roll at the moment. Have finished by Eureka artillery men with Blue Moon Russian 6lb guns. I bought these when Fighting 15’s was swapping over from Eureka/AB. They are actually Eureka Crimean War Russian Artillery. There are some historical differences on close inspection with their 1812 counterparts. The Crimean figures have trousers and not gaiters. The sword is a bit bigger and has no bayonet with it. There is only one cross belt as they have no cartridge box. The officers coat is a little shorter with more a belt looking waist than a sash (maybe there are more differences, but at 18mm not sure anyone will notice too much).

Russian Guard Cossacks
Have also finished the Boki Guard Cossacks. These were bought a few years ago. I think I was worried that mine were going to look pants compared to the Polk painted by Paul Alba. In the end I just went for it and am pretty pleased with the outcome (if I don't look at the Napoleonics in Miniature website). They are mounted on AB horses and include the Black Sea Sotnya. I really like painting the Boki figures. They are really characterful and clear sculpts and Sho even dug out some additional BSS figures when I found that I hadn't bought them originally (shouldn't purchase before researching). This also meant the unit has gone to whopping 30 figures creating 5 Sotnyas of 6 figures. The flag is from Maverick Models.
Russian Cossacks 2
Finished the main groups of Russian Cossacks. They are from three manufacturers, Fighting 15's, Essex and Totentanz.

Cossacks !
I have been having a Cossack blitz. I had a number of stalled projects:
1. Totentanz Cossacks half way painted (the sheer figure size was making basing a nightmare and made me give up)
2. Boki Leib Cossacks (have been primed for some time but lacked the Black Sea Sotnya).
3. Essex Cossacks that were painted as irregular Cossacks 20 odd years ago (now the Totentanz will be irregular and make the Essex lot look like hobbits)!
4. Fighting 15’s Ozil Cossacks need painting.
5. AB Cossacks do not make a full unit and need lances replaced.
6. Eureka Cossacks do not make a full unit and need lances replaced.
It’s a lot to do. But the Totentanz are completed. The Boki Cossacks only have the BSS to finish. Half of the fighting 15’s are done and the Essex are repainted as Generic Don type Cossacks.
I will get them photographed and posted soon.

Russian Opolcheniye 2
Finished the chaps in the felt hats ! I was in a bit of a twis over the basing of this unit. It should four bases with a total of 24 figures (working at 1:20 it gives a unit at 480). But the unit would have a very small frontage. So I am basing on only 3 bases.

French Corps Command Stand - Murat
I have had the excellent Boki Sho Murats kicking their heels for a while on the pile. But as I have been focusing on increasing my French command stands, for one lucky figure their time finally came. It was the Borodino Murat because I just wanted a really over the top version. I had seen a few other versions online and the figure painted up really well. The problem was then what to pair him with. Luckily I had two Boki timpinast (or kettle drummers) waiting for such an opportunity. These figures are also very nice. They are very large figures and to keep them in proportion I placed them on the largest AB heavy horse I could find. Then as a final flourish I added a Lithuanian tartar trumpeter. He was proportionally dwarfed by the timpinasts, but with a little bit of card his height and self esteem were lifted.

Russian Napoleonic Jaegers
Finished the last three battalions a few months back. All the figures are AB. Some of the casualties were modded from the Russian early Napoleonic range. It was a real squeeze getting them all on the bases and as for the bayonets !!! C’mon AB, I have seen real Christmas trees 6 months after Christmas with sturdier needles than some of these bayonets. But still lovely figures.
Russian Napoleonic Cossack Artillery Limber
Small conversion needed on these AB figures. The lance was removed from one and some lace removed from the officer figure. The limber horse...
